I’ve worked with a few different companies over the years. From the small jack-of-all-trades glazing companies, right through to the large commercial-focused, heavy weight companies. The challenges that were presented on a daily basis, and the huge variety in building architecture, ensured that every day was a little different and there was always something new to learn.

While it was great to experience all sides of the industry, and I enjoyed what I was doing, there was a missing piece of the puzzle that I needed to find. That missing piece was TIME.

Taking just a little bit of extra time to provide great customer advice and service. Also not rushing the job, ensuring it is done right the first time and will provide years of worry free service. Time taken also to focus on professional development and learning the best products and techniques to deliver a service that is superior to most in the industry. It is never too late to learn and this is what lead me to go through the process of becoming qualified later in my career, even though I was able to do the work required and it was in no way holding me back from keeping my job. Most glaziers on the other hand are not encouraged to become qualified and just rely on picking up skills on the job.

This is why I started Obsidian Glass and it is my hope that we can shift the balance away from the constant rush of modern living and number-driven values, so that we can focus more on getting things done right the first time and safely too.

With all that said, it is my hope that Obsidian Glass will flourish and grow into a business that can provide you with great service, a vast wealth of knowledge and expertise that you and everybody else can draw upon.
